TOLEDO OH (11-20-09) - When Deborah Renshaw burst onto the ARCA scene in 2002, the competition was reaching fever pitch. Development teams were coming out of the woodwork and Frank Kimmel was on fire. Despite an ultra-competitive arena, Renshaw excelled in more ways than one.
Renshaw, driving for Bob Schacht Motorsports, showed the most promise among her female counterparts of the day. In just a handful of ARCA starts, she was rarely outside the top-10 with finishes of 7th at Nashville Superspeedway, 8th at Kentucky and 9th at Chicagoland. Renshaw was also impressive at Talladega and Pocono with 11th place runs. She even made one short track start at Salem where she qualified third and was running third inside of 10 laps to go when she got caught up in someone else's wreck. Nonetheless, in a very short period of time, the well-spoken, well-educated girl from Bowling Green, Kentucky was turning a lot of heads. Given her impressive ARCA marks, there was every reason to believe that bigger things were still ahead.
Then, everything changed.

|
TOLEDO OH (11-19-09) - For decades, the ARCA RE/MAX Series has been a logical stepping stone into NASCAR's present-day top-three divisions. From two-time ARCA national champion Benny Parsons, to last year's ARCA champ Justin Allgaier, the ARCA sanction has, in reality, been developing drivers since its inception in 1953, long before the term "Driver Development" was even considered fashionable.

TOLEDO, Ohio (November 18, 2009)-Building off a superspeedway racing trend that started in the 1980s, ARCA grew in its roll as a developmental series for up-and-coming NASCAR drivers and teams in the 1990s as speedway races became even more prominent on the national tour's schedule. At the same time, second-generation ARCA racers such as Bobby Bowsher and Frank Kimmel became regular competitors in the series along with Michigan's Tim Steele, who dominated the 1990s by setting several records that still stand today. The stars of the 1990s, along with champions from each of ARCA's 57 years, will be honored at the ARCA RE/MAX Series Championship Awards Banquet in Covington, Kentucky, on Saturday evening, December 5.

TOLEDO OH (11-15-09) - Beau Slocumb competed in four ARCA RE/MAX Series races in 2009 earning a career-best fifth place finish at Kansas Speedway. He enjoyed his ARCA experience so much he wants to come back for the full schedule in 2010. Of course, that's easier said than done. It takes a lot of committed resources to run the whole year. But Slocumb is hopeful that things will work out. Actually, grateful, is more like it.
Slocumb, 24, was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in January of 2009, just days before he was scheduled to make his ARCA debut at Daytona. After months and months of chemo treatments during a six month-long stay at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, Slocumb was back inside a racecar in August for the ARCA race at Chicagoland.
