(FLAT ROCK, Michigan - May 16, 2012) - Flat Rock Speedway will award a prize package for the WDIV-Local 4 TV Fantasy Giveaway that is featured on the television station’s website, ClickOnDetroit.com for the week beginning Monday, May 21.

Dave Tanner, driver of the #22 Street Stock, at Flat Rock Speedway visited Eyler Elementary for career day.  Tanner and crew member Steve Walters passed out schedules, kids coupons and suckers to the kids.  They had about 60 kids from 3 different groups attend. 

(TOLEDO, Ohio - May 15, 2012) - ARCA’s Allegiant Late Model Gold Cup Series for the outlaw-style bodied cars is preparing to branch out just a bit for the very first time since the beginning of the Series in the mid-1990’s.  Sunday, May 27 Spartan Speedway in Mason, MI, just minutes from the state capitol of Lansing, will host the Series for a 100 lap shoot-out on the ¼ mile paved oval.

(TOLEDO, Ohio - May 14, 2012) - Toledo Speedway and several Wendy’s restaurant locations in the Toledo area have teamed up for Toledo Speedway Day this Tuesday, May 15 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.  A total of 7 Wendy’s stores will have race cars on display and drivers will be available for photos and autographs.

(FLAT ROCK, MI - May 12, 2012) - Flat Rock Speedway and sponsor Parts Galore welcomed back dozens of former drivers for the Racer’s Reunion and to celebrate 50 years of Figure 8 racing at the track.  The rain stayed to the north of the speedway, allowing for the Autograph Night, reunion and the race card to be completed with no weather issues.

Among the Figure 8 drivers on hand were Flat Rock’s 3 all-time Figure 8 feature win leaders-Bob Studt, Dick “Little Richard” Simmons and Chuck Hall.  Studt and Hall, who both still live in the area, are at the track each week, while Simmons, who made the trip from Florida, was the very first Figure 8 king at Flat Rock in 1962 and was the star of the early days of Figure 8 racing.

The crowd was treated to another great night of action at “The Rock”, with Robbie Loving taking the victory in the exciting 50 lap ARCA Parts Galore Figure 8 headliner.  Paul Pelletier made it 2 in a row in the Moran Chevrolet Late Models, while Landon Schuster, teamed with veteran car owner Bill Meade this season, grabbed the ARCA DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stock feature.

Flat Rock Speedway:1:40 p.m. Saturday, May 12:  Flat Rock Speedway is getting ready to open the pit area for tonight's show!  The rain has stayed north and west of the track and all systems are go.

Come on out and join us for the Parts Galore 50th Anniversary Celebration of Figure 8 racing at "The Rock".  A large group of former Figure 8 drivers and other former racers will be introduced to the crowd, including the very first Figure 8 champ, Dick "Little Richard" Simmons.

It's also Autograph Night!  Fans can walk onto the track and meet the drivers!  Pits open at 2, practice at 3, time trials at 4:45, on-track autograph session at 6:15, followed by the Racer's Reunion introductions and then racing, which will be highlighted by a big 50 lap Figure 8 feature!  The Late Models and Street Stocks are also in action tonight.

(TOLEDO, Ohio - May 11, 2012) - Sunshine and clear skies greeted the fans Friday evening at Toledo Speedway for the Burger King Scout Night.  Scouts were admitted free as guests of the track and the Greater Toledo Burger King Restaurants provided sponsorship for the show.  David Chandler, President and Chief Operating Officer of Bennett Management and the Burger King franchises, presented trophies to the feature winners in the Sun Drop Winner’s Circle.  The track also paid honor to nearly two dozen former racers during the Racer’s Reunion ceremonies. 

The 20 lap ARCA Parts Galore Figure 8 feature saw plenty of intersection action throughout the event.  Jerry Lee led the first 10 circuits until Robbie Loving zipped by on the next lap to take control on his way to the victory.  Lee held on for second, Dennis Whisman was third, Gary Cronenwett fourth and Greg Studt fifth, followed by Dan Apperson, Sam Hall, Scott Apperson, Archie Padgett, Nick Bradley and Ian Jezylo.  Heat race wins went to Cronenwett and Scott Apperson.

Flat Rock, Michigan—May 8, 2012:  In the year 1961, John Marcum sanctioned and promoted races across the Midwest.  Joan Simmons was the promoter at Flat Rock Speedway.  Joan had mentioned to Marcum about a race called a Figure 8.  Marcum, in Indiana to promote one of his many oval track races, saw the race that day.  The two icons of the industry put things together, Marcum became the promoter at Flat Rock that next year, and, in 1962, Figure 8 racing at Flat Rock Speedway was born. 

And from that day on, Figure 8 racing became a mainstay at Flat Rock Speedway.  The track will officially celebrate 50 years of Figure 8 racing this Saturday, May 12 as Parts Galore presents Autograph Night and the celebration of 50 years of Figure 8’s at “The Rock”.  A 50 lap feature for the Parts Galore-sponsored Figure 8 cars will be contested on the Figure 8 course to highlight this historic event. (Bob Studt, #54, with Denny Pace, #67 in 1974)

Tires must be purchased from ARCA and be in ARCA scanner system.  You may purchase tires in advance at the ARCA office or at Flat Rock Speedway.  Left sides:  Hoosier 3035; Right sides:  Hoosier 3045.   We will have tires at Spartan also for purchase.

Head/neck restraint system is also mandatory.
